ABMA is bringing boiler experts to the stage in the BOILER 2022 expo hall for the Ask the Experts Series that features Q&A from expo attendees.
This series will be hosted by Gene Tompkins and Mike Valentino of ABMA’s Technical Team who have more than 60 years of experience in the boiler industry.
The questions will focus on what supply chain partners should know about boiler technology and their boiler room along with insights on pitfalls and opportunities.

Louisiana State Boiler Inspector
My career begin over 40 years ago in 1979 in industrial fabrication as a pipefitter. Around 1987 I took a position as a Quality Control Inspector for a major boiler and pressure vessel fabricator. Throughout the years to follow I was employed with several ASME/National Board certificate holder fabrication facilities before I became a team member with the Louisiana State Fire Marshals Office in 2002. For the past 20 years I’ve served the state as a boiler inspector and Team Leader performing certification audits. In 2015 I was appointed to the position of Chief Boiler Inspector for Louisiana. Since that time I have served and am currently serving on several National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors committees and am currently a Board of Trustees member.

Ray Wohlfarth

Ray Wohlfarth is president of Fire and Ice in Pittsburgh. He is currently a columnist for Plumbing and Mechanical and PM Engineer magazines and the author of “Lessons Learned in a Boiler Room.” Wohlfarth also taught a course for the Green Building Research Institute on green boilers and is the RP chair for West Virginia ASHRAE, membership chair for West Virginia Association of Physical Plant Administrators (WV-APPA), and a member of the Radiant Professionals Association.

Eric Graham
Webster Combustion
Eric Graham began his career in the boiler/burner industry in 1990 when he went to work for Webster Engineering & Manufacturing as a customer service representative. During the last thirty-two years Eric has worked for the Kewanee Boiler Company, Gordon-Piatt Energy Group, John Zink Company, and in 2009 he re-joined Webster Engineering. In 2013 Webster was sold to Selas Heat Technology and became Webster Combustion Technology LLC, where Eric works today as the National Sales Manager. During his career Eric has enjoyed working with customers of all types. End users, boiler OEM’s, and manufacturers reps are all counted as his friends. In addition, Eric has been involved with the American Boiler Manufacturers Association for many years, serving as the vice-chair and chairman of the Burner Group committee, then on the ABMA Board of Directors for seven years, and currently as the chairman of the Advisory Committee for Boiler2022.
